Successful ECIM 2010 conference in Haugesund

 

Registration for the 2010 edition of Norways Expert Center for Information Management (ECIM) E&P information management conference in Haugesund reached over 330 participants, making ECIM the largest upstream data conference in Europe. International (non-Norwegian) participants made up 45% of the attendees.

 

The ECIM'2010 Conference and User Meeting did focus on the following topics:

 

  • Enterprise Information Management (EIM)
  • GIS
  • Drilling Data Management
  • Exploration & Development
  • Production Data Management
  • Vendor and Services

Shell and Statoil presented some experiences from their migration to Landmark's R5000. PetroChina is likewise leveraging Landmark's data infrastructure in its vision for the digital oilfield. Chris Bradley outlined how his company, IPL, helped a UK major develop its enterprise architecture. Petrel now offers a degree of control over coordinate reference systems and also an Innerlogix plug-in to QC data in real time.

A full workstream was devoted to Geographical information Systems (GIS) where Statoil expounded on its enterprise GIS implementation, Nexen about the use of GIS to manage upstream data and ExxonMobil presented an insightful look back at how GIS has evolved in Exxon. Also a new GIS User was established. contactperson for the new GIS Forum is Tore Hoff, Statoil.

 

Vendors and exhibition space

Besides the traditional Landmark and Schlumberger workstreams, this year a full workstream was dedicated for Vendors and Services. Also limited exhibition and profiling space was made available in the lobby.

ECIM E&P Annual Conference and User Meeting held in Haugesund has become the most important conference for petroleum data management and information management in the E&P industry. The 2010 conference was the best ever.  we had some fantastic three days together with more than 320 attendees representing over 100 companies and 21 countries.
