C - Why Geodetic Metadata is vital to Spatial Integrity - (Richard Wylde)

Correctly identifying the CRS of the data is a good start.
Different Databases can, and do, adopt different CRS to store geo-referenced data. Use of EPSG codes can help but they and their associated parameters need to be correctly populated. Vendor applications need to be consistent in their approach to Geodesy - using the same nomenclature, parameters and maintaining audit trails for data that associate Geodetic Metadata and any changes made to this. The OGP GIGS JIP will be discussed and time given for discussion.
