ECIM 2019 - 16th. to 18th. September in Haugesund

'Digital Transformation - from Vision to Reality'

Paper Submission - Call for Paper

We invite you to submit papers for the 24th ECIM International E&P Data and Information Management Conference and User Meeting 16-18 September, in Haugesund, Norway.

This annual DM Conference and User Meeting is the most important event of its kind in Europe.

Digitalisation and advanced data analytics have become the ‘new normal’ of the oil and gas industry. The vision of the last few years is now the reality on the ground. Data managers are being required to change the work they do, the tools they use, and increasingly their mindset to tackle the scale of data management challenges they have to deal with, at a pace not seen for a long time, if ever. How do we adapt to an increasingly ‘agile’ world? How do we survive and thrive in this sea of challenge and opportunity?

We encourage you to submit papers about 'real life' examples, lesson learnt, best practices, use cases, success stories, learnings, methodology, plans and trends in the areas such as;

  • Machine Learning, AI, Data Science: how are these being applied - What are the real benefits - How do they compare to what was promised.
  • Data governance in a time of change: how to maintain quality, connectivity, standardisation, and protect value while implementing Cloud, IIoT, Data Lakes, micro-services and real time systems.
  • Information and Data Security in an ever more distributed environment. How do we retain the business value of this data (knowledge) and manage the digital risk (security).
  • The Modern Data Manager: The role of today’s Data Manager - How is it changing - Where now do we add value - What skills and competencies are needed to succeed in a rapidly changing digital world - What is an ‘Agile’ Data Manager.

  • Data Driven Transformation and Digitalization; aligning people, processes and technology while providing agile scalability.
  • Current and future “Data Life Cycle & Quality Management” for Exploration, Drilling, Development, Reservoir, Production and Abandonment.
  • Spatial DM, Location Intelligence, Spatial analytics & GIS for data visualization / collection / analytics / access / sharing / QC. Maintaining geospatial integrity while dealing with change.
  • Data sharing and ways of working across companies, NOCs and National Data Repositories. Are we making the most of new technology - How do we enable access to data from anywhere, at any time, by anything.
