The annual Data and Information Management, Engineering, and Valuing Conference and User Meeting is Europe's preeminent event for professionals.
ECIM - EPISODE XXVII
There is unrest in the Data Galaxy.
Several thousand information systems
have declared their intentions to become self-generative
This movement, under the leadership of the mysterious A.I,
has made it difficult for the limited
number of Data Knights to
maintain peace and order in the galaxy.
Experience & Competencies, the former Twin Queens of Data,
are returning to the Galaxy to vote on the critical issue
of creating an ARMY OF DATA DOERS
to assist the overwhelmed Data Science....
Modern cloud technologies have resulted in an exponential growth of data being captured and made available every single day. These advancements also empower us to gain valuable insights into our data and information at an unprecedented rate and scale.
As the rate of data and information captured and made available increases, the need for proper management has never been more important. Lliberating data from their original source systems raises questions around how to manage access control and security in the cloud. More-over, the well-known “Garbage in, Garbage out” statement has never been as real, nor as impacting, as it is today – and will be in the future. For what happens when your pipelines transform the data in ways you didn't see coming? When your copilot confidently lies to you? When you make an important decision based on a false premise?
If you don't manage your data, THE DATA STRIKES BACK!!!
We invite you to share your insights and experiences on real-life examples, lessons learned, best practices, use cases, success stories, methodologies, plans, and trends in relevant areas of data and information:
OSDU: Show practical examples of how companies are leveraging OSDU to accelerate their digital transformation, with focus on real-world examples of how OSDU is implemented to streamline data management processes, enhance collaboration, and drive operational efficiency. Similarly, we are looking for practical examples of developing and implementing data governance and cybersecurity in the context of OSDU. We’d like to hear about the challenges faced during implementation, benefits realized and key learnings.
Share what we can, protect what we must: Show practical examples (positive and/or negative) of your experiences balancing the line between making data available in cloud, whilst maintaining the necessary access control and security in place at all stages. What solutions are being implemented for data security classification and identifying/maintaining appropriate data owners? How do you deal with data which are restricted in terms of usage internally in the company by country regulations (export control, sanctions) or contractual terms (incl. Intellectual property rights). What access groups and personas are used to ensure compliant access and use of subsurface data? Liberating data is not as simple as it sounds.
How can Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) make data management easier?: ML&AI have gained more and more popularity in recent years, across several domains. Data and Information management is no exception. Some examples are data quality and cleansing, automated governance and compliance, data security, and of course generating new data. Please share your insights, experiences, and success stories related to ML&AI use cases.
Garbage in, Garbage out (GIGO) – understanding the data is more important than ever: In the realm of data management, the GIGO principle stands as a beacon: the quality of output mirrors the quality of input. Amidst our relentless pursuit of refining output, let us not overlook the critical 'in'—the foundational data. How does your organization attend to this crucial stage to ensure trustworthy outcomes? We invite you to share insights on how your organization ensures the quality and reliability of input data, shaping the outcomes we rely on. Show practical examples and strategies for enhancing data quality and completeness.
Learning from Failure: Working agile and “fail fast” have been adopted in many of our activities. This to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and new ways of working (“Failure is an option here. If things are not failing, you are not innovating enough” Elon Musk). Typically, we talk about the success and less on the failures along the way to success. It is the failures that provides us learning and as a community we should share our failures so that we learn from each other.
Sustainable Energy and Low-Carbon Solutions: As the world progresses towards sustainable energy sources to meet carbon-neutrality goals, energy companies face challenges in managing the ever-evolving data and information requirements. The emergence of new data types, the gap between traditional E&P workflows and the unique needs of low-carbon initiatives, and the utilization of legacy data to accelerate the time-to-insight in budget-constrained projects are just the beginning in this exciting new world. Please share your insights and lessons learned on creating, adapting, and integrating data and information management practices to foster seamless collaboration and knowledge transfer across energy domains.
Geospatial: As geospatial data becomes crucially intertwined with other data management disciplines like Metadata Management, Master Data Management, Data Quality Management and Big Data Management it remains a critical component of modern data-driven decision-making. This dedicated and highly requested workstream invites you to share on geospatial topics connected to data engineering, data science, spatial intelligence, the use of geospatial data to train ML models and help AI algorithms to identify patterns, trends and relationships. We request you to be courageous and come forward to also share your journeys related to cloud adoption, securing restricted datasets and at the same time promoting open access and sharing to advance innovation and research.
We must respectfully remind you to avoid any directly or indirectly sales or marketing of particular proprietary products or services in your presentation.
May the data be with you!
Please use this [Speaker Form 2024 Link] and write a short description or an abstract of what you would like to present. Include your contact information and submit the form to us without delay.
We appreciate your participation and contribution of papers, as well as your help in encouraging others to write and present papers.
